S P A C E

space_pigeon_toe-7017Photographer and blogger Leah Verwey recently visited us to document our creative space for her aptly named new blog SPACE — sneak a peak inside our studio here and check out the other creative Portland forces she’s recently documented while you’re there. I love the concept of her blog and cannot wait to glimpse inside more studios and workshops in the coming months.

Pigeon Toe in Portland Monthly

09_92_spaces_ceramicsWe couldn’t be more pleased to be featured in the new issue of Portland Monthly – our favorite local glossy on all things Portland. You can read the full article online here or see it in the new issue, on newsstands now.

Hough’s bowls, cups, vases, and planters capture a rich contemporary design aesthetic at an affordable price. Combine those two elements with Portland’s love of the local—every Pigeon Toe piece is made here, from locally sourced materials—and you’ve got a recipe for recession-proof success.”

Our ears are burning. A big thanks to Lisa Radon for the write up, and Brandon Joseph Baker for capturing my good side.

Attention Californians: New Shop

storeshotWe are so, so pleased to announce that Rare Device in San Francisco will be carry Pigeon Toe Ceramics in a few short weeks. We’ve made about half their order already and the pieces are very excited to hop into the kiln and travel down to sunny California, where they hope to grace the homes of tasteful people everywhere. They will be both online (how I shop up in here in Portland) and in-store. Their carefully curated shop is a go-to link whenever I’m looking for gifts.

In the Studio with Pigeon Toe

3547935167_31ae34d850_oHave you ever wondered about the process of making a Pigeon Toe piece? Photographer Alicia Carrier spent time in our studio last week documenting a typical production session in our studio for your enjoyment. Each piece from start to finish takes about 3 weeks – see multiple stages in our new image gallery, from throwing, trimming, firing, glazing, and firing again! Thanks to Heart Handmade for debuting this project on their website today. We hope you enjoy this little peek into our process, and we hope to add even more images in the future, so keep checking back!

Artist Series Sneak Peek + Thank you

We thought we’d give our readers a sneak peek into the world of our artist collaboration series – a labor of love if there ever was one. What? You didn’t know we were doing a collaborative line with our favorite local artists? You better subscribe to the newsletter to stay on the ball! First up in Alyson Graves of the popular lifestyle blog Unruly Things. We hope she doesn’t mind us sharing the snapshot of the Inaugural piece in the collection – to be sold exclusively thorough us and Olio United and being fired this weekend!

Also a big thanks to Holly over at Decor8 for the write up today and hello to all the new readers! My ears are burning.
